“There has to be a place where these kids, who are lost and broken and hurting, can go to find a home.”

(Matt Greiner, August Burns Red)

We represent the musicians in many Christian bands who face this challenge every week. We tour to a new city, set up, and then give a show. We love God and want to connect our fans with God, too. We invite people to give their lives to Jesus and we have seen God do amazing things. Fans are born again; they recommit their lives to Christ; they encounter the love of God; new life begins. But…

Then we pack up and leave. We can’t tell you how many times we’ve played at a show and had a fan approach us afterward to talk about life and what he or she is dealing with. Often they are broken and aching and don’t know where to turn. We do our best, but we can’t help but think that we are abandoning them when they need us the most.

“It’s a pretty sickening feeling to pray with someone, to see a new life being born, and then have to pack up and leave the next morning. The most we’re able to do is to exchange emails, but that’s about it. There has to be a better way to care for these spiritual newborns.”

(Tim Anderson, Station 153)

There has to be a way for Christian bands to provide discipleship and accountability to their fans, so that newborn Christians are not neglected when they need to be cared for the most.

Welcome to the better way.

The Dream. What if we could get hundreds, if not thousands of churches involved?—a database of local churches where our fans could find a home, a place to adopt them and care for them after the show. What if we could provide fans with discipleship resources, like cutting edge video testimonies from Christian musicians, daily devotionals, and a tool to locate Christian churches?—your church. What if we could connect bands to churches and churches to fans and pastors to musicians? What if these cultures could collide, creating communities that genuinely care?

—When newborn Christians need it the most.

Welcome to Brick by Brick: Connecting Cultures, Creating Community.

    We have three purposes:
        1. Connecting fans with churches.
        2. Connecting churches with bands.
        3. Uniting the Church.

Here’s how it works:

Right after a show, instead of having to leave behind new Christians or those fans that really need some extra help, we are able to provide our Brick by Brick website. This website is a tool for fans to use to pursue their faith even deeper. The website provides the accountability and discipleship that Christian bands crave, but cannot give.

The Brick By Brick website will have a database of likeminded churches (see our Statement of Faith), which fans can easily use to search for a church home near their zip code. The site will also provide exclusive downloads, including video teachings and testimonies from the fan’s favorite bands. Fans will be required to enter some information before they can access these downloads. They will have the opportunity, for instance, to check a box that says, “I want a pastor from my area to contact me.” Once that happens, an email will be sent out to the closest Brick by Brick pastor to their zip code.

And suddenly, a one-night event turns into a new relationship as cultures are connected and a community is created.

Local churches will be able to reach people that were nearly impossible to reach before. It is our conviction that today’s Christian bands are also among today’s missionaries. We travel the world, connecting with fans who would never enter into a church service, but who would attend a music concert.

We are reaching into the toughest situations through the language of music. We are the missionaries to the next generation, those who are lost and broken and hurting—who need Jesus the most. Jesus is pleased to use us to go into the darkest places and to “play forth” the light of Christ. The church needs us to contextualize the gospel in ways that the average church cannot.

And bands need the church!

We need that which only the church can provide: follow-up, discipleship, and accountability. We’ll do our part by reaching the lost, but we need the church to do its part by taking care of the newborns. This is a beautiful picture of the body of Christ, as every member does its part, depending on each other to carry out the desires of our head, who is Jesus himself.

But it goes even further. Bands need the church in practical ways. Though the average person may not realize it, we touring musicians are very needy people! We need places to stay for the night, as we often are on the road for nine months out of the year. We need meals to eat, too. You may not realize it, but there are days when we don’t eat, as we travel to the next venue. We also need a church home away from home, a place where we can relax and worship on Sundays when we are on tour.

Thus, Brick by Brick will also be a place where local churches can take care of some of the needs of their favorite bands. When a band is traveling through a city, the Brick by Brick website will notify churches, and band members will be able to post their needs, too.

“Hey, we’re somewhere in Ohio and need a place to crash tonight!”

From the church’s perspective, however, the bands have a lot to offer, as well. Most bands would be happy to speak at your church, provide high quality video downloads, or dream up an outreach event. We want to come alongside of what pastors and youth leaders are doing, helping them to reach their kids, and promoting local youth groups to their fans. How awesome would that be!

This can revolutionize the way that bands tour, providing a depth to their shows that they never thought possible. This can revolutionize the way that churches view bands, as they harness the impact that bands are having on the culture. This can revolutionize the way that the church functions, as the many members of Christ’s body come together to raise up the next generation of God’s kids.

For the fans. For the bands. For the Kingdom.

“You are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”

(Ephesians 2:19-22)

It’s been amazing to see how God put together a couple of dreamers and planted the idea for Brick by Brick. Along the way, God has been carrying the load of this dream. We’ve seen God provide the finances, the expertise in programming and video, the design, and a ton of connections within the music and church worlds. God keeps giving ideas and opening up doors. We truly believe that God can use Brick by Brick to reach fans and advance his Kingdom. We are passionate about the potential of Brick by Brick, because we are passionate about building God’s kingdom.
